The Seashore and More: Embroiderers’ Guild + Martin Dutton – 27th October to 1st December 2017

The Seashore and More at Elizabeth House

With refurbishment work taking place in Elizabeth House, the Gallery will be closed for most of October, following our Wednesday Group  show which closes on 6th October.  We open again on 30th October with a return visit for the combined talents of the Windsor & Maidenhead Embroiderers’ Guild and watercolourist Martin Dutton, fresh from his success in scooping top prize in the recent Maidenhead and Me competition.

The Guild members have used the seashore as inspiration for their work which covers a range of techniques from the modern to the traditional.

Martin’s beautifully detailed landscapes bear witness to his memories and to the changing countryside, derived from photographs, sketchbook work and accidents that occur when in the act of producing a painting.

The exhibitions will be open from 9am to 12pm and from 1pm to 3pm Monday to Friday and look out for details of weekend openings.

Workshops        There will be an adult beginner’s Machine Embroidery workshop on November 5th from 10 am to 3pm. The cost is £5pp and must be booked in advance. Participants must bring their own machine and machine needles and have a basic knowledge of how the machine works including how to drop the feed on the machine. All materials will be provided.

There will be a Mini (‘Make a fish on a stick’) workshop for children aged 8 and above on November 4th from 2 to 3.30pm.  All equipment and materials will be provided but places must be booked. To book a place on either workshop please email Pauline Johnson –

The Guild is hoping to start a Young Embroiderers branch so if you would like further details and to register an interest then please let them know at the email address above.
