Elizabeth House Volunteers

Elizabeth House relies on our many volunteers who give so generously of their time and energy. At least six people are needed to assist on any one day, supporting the manager, administrator and cook.

We are always looking for volunteers to help either on a regular basis or as a backup for when people are on holiday or ill.

Do you have an hour or two to spare during the week? Would you like to help the team at Elizabeth House Day Centre? If so, we need volunteers to help with:

Making and serving morning coffee

Assisting the cook with food preparation –  washing; peeling; cutting; sauces) and some washing up. Laying the tables

Helping with lunches –  Dishing lunch with the cook; serving lunch at the table, clearing tables, washing up, loading & unloading dishwasher, sweeping dining room floor.

Doing activities with our members – Our members enjoy a wide range of activities from bingo to Bollywood dancing and crosswords

Driving –  Collecting and transporting members to Elizabeth House; and taking members home from Elizabeth House

Cleaning – Dusting, vacuuming, cleaning cloakrooms, toilets, etc

Gardening – Any time: Seasonal pruning & planting: tidying borders; weeding and litter clearance; sweeping paving; watering when required.

Volunteers who help during the intense lunch period may stay for lunch afterwards if they wish

Fundraising and help with events

As required: helping with our fundraising events; selling raffle tickets, catering help for special events; helping with our activities programme.

If you would enjoy helping with any of these activities, please call Miriam Blazey on 01628 527621 to arrange a visit. Please print a copy of our volunteer form, complete it and send or bring it to us at Elizabeth House.
